First of all, one would think breathing is a no brainer. That it should come to everyone as easy as, well, taking a breath. But there is more to pulling air into and pushing air out of your body than simply doing that. Breathing can destress you. Can detox your body and your spirit. Breathing can bring clarity to a situation. To life. And it can heal.

The idea that breathing and your control of it can be life changing, is not a new one. Nor is the idea that everyone can control their breathe, revolutionary.  People who study martial arts and those who simply exercise can tell you of the benefit. But many of us don’t really know how to get that control or how to use it. In Dan Brule’s book JUST BREATHE he leads you through the how and why of the act of controlling your breath. He leads the listener through the process with simple steps and easy to follow descriptions.

I found the exercises in the book helpful in my own life, and how I approached certain situations in my life. And as often happens, this book fell into my hands at a time when I really needed it. So, before you ask, yes, I enjoyed the book, and yes I would recommend it. Now this recommendation isn’t my usual, if you like this kind of book… blah, blah, blah, no, I recommend Dan’s instructions to everyone and in audio format.

Was there anything I didn’t like about the book? To be honest, the beginning where Dan tells how he got started was a little slow, but not that long.

Just Breathe, if you truly follow the exercises and practice them, will help find a calmness, balance, and healing place.  The book is available from Simon & Schuster Audio
